On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Theory of Relativity and the 50th anniversary of the great scientist Albert Einstein’s death, the Goethe Institute in Hanoi will host an Einstein Night on November 22, 2005.
Books and films about Einstein that have been translated into Vietnamese will be showcased during Einstein Night.
Albrecht Foelsing’s Book: Einstein – The Great Scientist of Humanity, translated by Ngụy Hữu Tâm from the original German text. The author of this book, Albrecht Foelsing, born in 1940, is a physicist and journalist, serving as the Head of the Science – Nature – Environment department at North German Radio. He has authored books on Galileo Galilei (1988), Heinrich Hertz (1997), among others. Foelsing’s Einstein – The Great Scientist of Humanity (1993) is regarded as one of the best biographies of Einstein.
Einstein – A Century of Impact is a collection of writings by Vietnamese scientists, journalists, writers, and artists about Einstein’s work and character. This book is published thanks to the efforts of the magazine “Tia sáng” and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations.
The perspective on science and Einstein’s life by Dr. Chu Hảo introduces the ideals and life philosophy of the brilliant scientist in the upcoming book “The World as I See It” (to be published soon).
Two films will be introduced during Einstein Night: Einstein – The Genius, The Rebel, The Fun Friend and The Secrets of Space and Time.
The film Einstein – The Genius, The Rebel, The Fun Friend is a 46-minute documentary about Einstein’s life and career, produced by Channel 2 of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2005.
The Secrets of Space and Time is an outstanding science film that explains Einstein’s theory of relativity using simple models, making it accessible to audiences without deep knowledge of physics. This film was produced in Austria in 2005 and has a duration of 29 minutes.
