The Tatamel electric motorcycle, when folded, measures only 0.7m in length, 0.68m in height, and 0.26m in width, making it compact enough to fit under a desk.
The electric motorcycle is an interesting and cost-effective mode of transportation, but finding a parking spot is not always easy. The Japanese startup Icoma has developed the Tatamel, which can be folded like a suitcase, to address this issue, as reported by New Atlas on October 21.
When in operation, the Tatamel measures 1.23m in length, 1m in height, and 0.65m in width. Its 600-watt motor is powered by a 12 Ah lithium-ion phosphate battery, allowing for a maximum speed of 40 km/h and a range of approximately 50 km. However, these are only estimated specifications for the final production model.

When folded, the Tatamel is only 0.7m long, 0.68m high, and 0.26m wide, compact enough to fit under a desk. Riders can use the handle to pull the vehicle to their desired location. The motorcycle moves using the front wheel and a small set of wheels at the rear.
Additionally, the Tatamel is equipped with front and rear suspension systems and LED lighting. The vehicle also allows for charging other devices from its battery. The side panels can be changed for advertising purposes or other uses. According to Icoma, this vehicle is classified as a moped in Japan, so riders only need a standard driver’s license.
Icoma has created a fully functional prototype of the Tatamel and plans to move it into production. However, the company has not yet announced when the Tatamel will be available for sale.
