Despite SpaceX having to cancel the launch of the Starship rocket due to fuel issues, the company successfully “launched” another type of rocket.
On April 18, SpaceX – the rocket and spacecraft research company founded by billionaire Elon Musk – unveiled two “spin-off” products related to the Starship spacecraft. These two products include a model of the spacecraft and a gas torch device named Starship Torch.

According to the description on SpaceX’s website, Starship Torch is a collectible item that doubles as a gas torch. The device features a fuel container that can be refilled using standard gas cylinders. When not in use, users can safely lock it and transform the product into a 1:200 scale model of the Starship.
“Designed to create a flame that won’t be blown out by the wind, the Starship Torch allows you to easily ignite anything from steak to crème brûlée. Beyond the kitchen, the product can also light candles or start a fireplace,” the description on SpaceX’s online store states.
The other item introduced by SpaceX is a 1:150 scale model of the Starship made from chrome-plated stainless steel, replicating key details of the spacecraft.

SpaceX opened pre-orders for both products on April 18. The Starship Torch is priced at $175, while the model is priced at $300. Orders are expected to be shipped in the third quarter.
On the Reddit forum, fans of Elon Musk expressed great enthusiasm for the Starship Torch and indicated they were willing to spend money to own this kitchen device at the relatively high price.
In addition to the model, SpaceX also launched T-shirts and hats to commemorate the company’s latest rocket launch, including two T-shirts and a hoodie featuring the SpaceX logo on the front and a diagram of the Starship engine on the back.
On April 17, SpaceX planned to launch the rocket along with the Starship for the first time from the Starbase facility, located on the Gulf Coast of South Texas.
However, an unfortunate incident occurred with a pressure relief valve in the fuel tank, which caused the launch to be postponed with less than 9 minutes left on the countdown.
On its homepage, SpaceX stated that it would have to wait a minimum of 48 hours before proceeding with another launch attempt. The timing for the next launch has not yet been announced.
