After the successful completion of the Inspiration4 mission, Elon Musk shared what he wants to improve on SpaceX’s spacecraft.
On September 20, Elon Musk met with the crew of the Inspiration4 mission in Florida. During this meeting, the CEO of SpaceX also answered questions from followers on Twitter regarding the company’s plans for the next mission.
In response to a question from a user, Elon Musk confirmed that the company has plans to upgrade the amenities for space tourism flights, including the restroom.

“The restroom will definitely be upgraded. We had a bit of a challenge with it on this flight,” Musk said. However, the billionaire did not specify what these challenges were, nor how exactly the restroom would be upgraded.
Earlier in July, one of the crew members shared the inconveniences of using the restroom on the spacecraft.
Speaking with Business Insider, Jared Isaacman mentioned that the crew’s restroom is located on the ceiling of the spacecraft with a glass dome. This means that crew members can enjoy a 360-degree view while using the bathroom.
“There isn’t a lot of privacy. Even though you can use a fabric curtain to separate the front of the spacecraft, you could say you’re still quite exposed,” he said.
Jared Isaacman also noted that learning how to use the restroom on the spacecraft was part of the rigorous training for civilian astronauts before they boarded the ship.

In addition to improving the restroom, Elon Musk also mentioned that the next flight will feature a small oven to heat food. The spacecraft will also be equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity provided by Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet project.
Previously, the astronauts of the Inspiration4 mission enjoyed cold pizza during their three-day flight. While in space, the crew members had the opportunity to chat with Elon Musk and actor Tom Cruise.
On September 15, the crew of four civilian members of Inspiration4 began their space journey aboard SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft. They successfully landed back on Earth on the evening of September 18.
