On December 28, 2005, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, and the Vietnamese Overseas Science and Technology Club, the club was officially launched in Ho Chi Minh City.
The interim executive board consists of 6 members, led by Dr. Tran Ha Anh, the former director of the Da Lat Nuclear Research Institute.
This is a grassroots, non-profit organization established to gather and facilitate the contributions of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals, allowing them to share their expertise and experiences for the development of Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam. The club aims to serve as a bridge between scientific and technical intellectuals both domestically and internationally.
According to the initial report, the club has registered 128 intellectuals among the overseas Vietnamese community, with 109 official members, most of whom are experts in various fields such as economics, information technology, mechanical engineering, and chemistry, primarily from Germany, the United States, France, Japan, and Australia.
The club has identified key objectives for its activities, including: supporting the Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City to establish and operate a microchip center; establishing a “Consulting, Training, Research, and Application Center for Scientific and Technical Achievements of Vietnamese People Abroad”; and mobilizing overseas intellectuals to contribute to the development of the High-Tech Park…
