Whenever we hear about “national borders,” we often think of armed guards, trained military dogs, barbed wire, and strict passport checks. Well, that’s not always the case!
Netherlands – Belgium: The village of Baarle-Hertog in Belgium and Baarle-Nassau in the Netherlands are separated by just a row of bricks. Every day, many tourists cross between the two countries, with a white line on the ground marking which country they are in.
USA – Canada: Every few years, forested areas are cleared to mark the border between the USA and Canada, a location referred to as the Slash.
Poland – Ukraine: The uniquely designed fish shape on this border was part of an art exhibition in 2012.
Haiti – Dominican Republic: Deforestation is very noticeable right at the border between Haiti (on the left) and the Dominican Republic (on the right).
China – Macau: Macau is a Special Administrative Region of China, where people drive on the left, while mainland China drives on the right. Thus, the roads change right at the border.
USA – Mexico: The border between the two countries is a fence separating San Diego, California, from Tijuana, Mexico.
Argentina – Paraguay – Brazil: This is a unique border scene between three countries, where the Paraná and Iguazu rivers converge.
Germany – Czech Republic: The lush green area on the left is Germany, while the barren land on the right is the Czech Republic, showing how the two countries have dealt with beetle infestations differently.
Nepal – China: The border between Nepal and China runs through the summit of Mount Everest.
Norway – Sweden: This slope is located on the border between Norway and Sweden.
Another border between Sweden and Norway. You might have the chance to move between the two countries in just a few steps.
The border between Estonia and Russia is marked by several prominent structures. The Narva River lies between the borders of Estonia and Russia. On the Estonian side of the river is Hermann Castle, and on the Russian side is Ivangorod Fortress.
Slovakia and Poland share a remarkable natural border. The High Tatras mountain range is located between Slovakia and Poland. These mountains are part of the High Tatras National Park, mostly in Slovakia, although a portion of the park also extends into Poland.
Sharing a border is not something that occurs only between two countries. The confluence of three countries Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand lies on the Mekong River, also known as the Golden Triangle.

For those who love conquering heights, the border between Italy and Switzerland is a fantastic sight. However, the photo does not depict a tourist spot. You have to climb quite high in the Alps to reach the research center at the border between Italy and Switzerland. This research center was established in 1893 and continues to operate over a century later.
The Oresund Bridge connects Copenhagen, Amager Island, Denmark with Malmo, southern Sweden, spanning the Oresund Strait. The citizens of both countries can cross this bridge to visit their neighboring country without needing to fly or take a boat. Previously, the people of Denmark and Sweden traveled by ferry.

The library is built on the border between the United States and Canada, owned by both countries, serving the citizens of both nations simultaneously. Sweden – Finland: You can even play golf on the border between Sweden and Finland.
Brazil – Uruguay: The border between these two countries is on the sidewalk. Brazil on the left, Uruguay on the right.
Germany – Netherlands: The border between Germany and the Netherlands is marked by a metal strip at the Eurode shopping center. Despite the mailboxes on both sides of the border, letters only reach the recipient a week later.
Russia – USA: This is an island between Russia and the United States. The island is 35 km away from both Chukotka and Alaska. However, the time difference can be as much as 21 hours.
China – Mongolia: There’s nothing unusual on the border between China and Mongolia. Just two dinosaurs kissing.
