Severe cold weather accompanied by heavy snowfall has caused significant difficulties for the people of China in their daily lives.
Since Monday (November 6), northeastern China has been enduring unseasonably cold temperatures and snowstorms, prompting several cities to issue high-level weather warnings and advise residents to stay indoors.
The astonishing sweep of the early season snowstorm has forced airlines to cancel flights, suspend train services, and close schools and roads. State broadcaster CCTV reported that with snowfall accumulating up to 25 cm, over 90% of highway entrances in Jilin Province have been closed as of 7 PM. In the northernmost province of Heilongjiang, local railway operators have temporarily halted 51 passenger routes due to safety concerns.

Meanwhile, the city of Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, has also canceled over 400 flights at its international airport. Additionally, numerous schools, kindergartens, and training institutions have temporarily closed for 2-3 days.
The head of the China National Meteorological Center stated that the first snowfall in the country typically occurs from late November to early December. Therefore, the heavy and early snowfall in November is considered quite unusual and presents a rare sight in the northern regions of the country.
