A famous red deer known to many as Callum the Stag has been euthanized due to health concerns.
Callum the Stag is well-known to tourists at the Beinn Eighe parking area near Torridon Mountain in the village of the same name in Scotland. The animal often approaches visitors when they raise their cameras to take pictures.

The land management agency of the conservation organization National Trust for Scotland (NTS) did not disclose specific health issues regarding the deer but stated that the decision was made in consultation with a veterinarian, as reported by the BBC on June 22.
The Ross-shire Journal reported that tourists had been feeding Callum the Stag the wrong type of food, causing the animal to lose its teeth and become unable to forage.
NTS confirmed that the deer had lost nearly all of its teeth.
An NTS spokesperson stated: “We are very sad to announce that, based on the advice of the veterinary expert, Callum the Stag, who was frequently seen in the parking area at Torridon, has been euthanized.”
“We know that many people in the community and visitors will also be very upset to hear this news.”
“As a conservation charity, we take our responsibility for animal welfare very seriously and have been advised that this is the kindest option.”
In 2020, tourists were warned not to give friendly red deer Glen Coe whisky after reports suggested that these animals appeared to be intoxicated.
According to local residents, this beloved deer had been improperly fed by hikers, receiving items such as croissants, Rice Krispies, and cereals, which led to its significant tooth loss.
