According to China Daily, this three-car train, costing more than 36 million yuan (approximately 4.5 million USD), is the most advanced subway train in China. With a speed of 135 km/h (about 84 mph), it will shorten travel time from Panyu, located in southern Guangzhou, to the city’s international airport in Huadu District in the north to less than one hour.
This train was publicly launched on Guangzhou’s Metro Line 3, which runs from the south to the north of the city. “The operation of Metro Line 3 will significantly alleviate the heavy traffic pressure in Guangzhou, benefiting over 200,000 local residents living along the route,” said Zhang Changjun, deputy engineer of the Guangzhou subway system.
This world’s fastest subway train can carry 675 passengers, with cars measuring 19.98 meters in length and 2.8 meters in width, and it is designed to operate for over 30 years. With modern technologies and amenities, passengers can enjoy various television programs while traveling on the train.
The train was manufactured by the Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Company in Hunan Province.
