Israeli archaeologists have unearthed ceramic artifacts in the area of Tell es-Safi, believed to be the ancient homeland of the giant Goliath in southern Israel, inscribed with the name of this giant.
Professor Aren Mae from Bar-Ilan University suggests that the ceramic artifact, dated to 950 BCE and featuring engraved inscriptions, confirms the historic battle between Goliath and young David as described in the Bible, indicating that the Biblical narrative reflects the cultural reality of that historical period. The dating of the ceramic artifact inscribed with Goliath’s name coincides with the chronicle in the Bible affirming that the small David conquered the giant Goliath.
Israeli archaeologists also confirm that the area of Tell es-Safi is the ancient city of Gath, home to the Philistines, the ancient enemies of the Jewish people.
