A giant squid measuring 4.6 meters long was caught by a group of fishermen in Negros Occidental, Philippines on June 20.
A giant squid measuring 4.6 meters long, weighing 50kg.
Footage shows the squid floating on the water’s surface next to a local fishing boat. The fishermen had also caught a smaller squid earlier.
The giant squid is more than half the size of the boat and weighs up to 50kg. The fishermen decided to release the creature back into the sea afterward.
One of the fishermen, Nicol John Entia, stated: “This is the largest squid I have ever seen. It looks like it doesn’t belong to this world.”
The giant squid, one of the largest living invertebrates, can grow to impressive sizes, with the largest specimens estimated to reach lengths of up to 13.1 meters.
