In the video, a pet dog is seen being tightly constricted by a python. Hearing the dog’s cries, a young man immediately ran over and used a stick to try to rescue his pet.
At this moment, the python appeared quite aggressive, raising its head and lunging at the young man as he approached. It even tried to tighten its grip on the dog and showed no intention of releasing its prey.
After a tense struggle, the young man managed to free the dog from the python’s grip. Out of sheer fright, the dog quickly ran away from its would-be predator. It is reported that the python was also released by the young man.
Reticulated Python, scientifically known as Python reticulatus, is considered the longest snake species in the world. They are primarily distributed in South Asia and Southeast Asia. They usually hunt animals such as rodents, civets, and pigs, and sometimes even birds. Reticulated pythons that live near humans may also prey on dogs, cats, or chickens.
Reticulated pythons are ambush predators, adept at camouflaging themselves in dense vegetation and waiting for unsuspecting prey to come close. Like other pythons, they are non-venomous and do not kill their prey with bites. Instead, they use their massive bodies to constrict and suffocate their victims.
Similar to many other snake species, reticulated pythons can expand their jaws to swallow prey that is up to one-quarter of their body length.
Although reticulated pythons are strong enough to kill a human, they are not considered a dangerous species to people, and instances of attacks on humans are very rare.
