Can Crabs Survive in Warmer Water Conditions? Scientists are Concerned About Climate Change Impacts
Ecologist Jonathon Stillman from Stanford University in the United States has recently discovered that certain species of crabs, known as “Sally Lightfoot Crabs,” living on the western islands of the U.S. may face challenges as ocean temperatures continue to rise.
He conducted experiments by measuring the heart rates of these crabs in both warm and normal water conditions. The results showed that their heart rates were lower when exposed to warmer water environments. This information helps clarify how crabs might adapt to changes in their living temperature.
