On the morning of the same day, residents living near Ho Thung Beach in Dong Hai Commune spotted the whale drifting from offshore to the beach, showing signs of weak breathing. The whale was over 3 meters long and weighed approximately 300 kg.
Many people came to see it and noticed that the whale’s body had scratches on its back. Local fishermen attempted to return the whale to the sea. However, the whale continued to drift ashore, became exhausted, and eventually died.

The local community and authorities brought the whale’s carcass to Ho Thung Pagoda for burial rites according to the beliefs of the coastal fishermen.
According to the head of the People’s Committee of Dong Hai Commune, a whale weighing over 100 kg also washed ashore and died last year, and the residents buried it.
