To reach the fort from the city of Bahawalpur, travelers must spend hours navigating a dusty road. However, with the stunning landscape of the Cholistan Desert as your companion and the majestic fort as the destination, this journey is truly worthwhile.
This structure was built using clay bricks.
Derawar is a massive square architectural structure constructed of clay bricks. The fortress walls are 1500 meters long and 30 meters high, with a circumference of 1500 meters. There are forty cylindrical pillars in the fort’s walls, with ten towers on each side, and this architectural marvel can be seen from miles away across the desert.
The fort still retains its magnificent and grand appearance as it did on the first day.
Upon closer inspection, visitors can notice the creative carvings both on the exterior and interior of the building. Despite the effects of time on the structure, the fort continues to maintain its spectacular and majestic look just as it did on the day it was built.
