Two close friends worked together in a carpentry shop. One day, one of them accidentally had his arm severed by a power saw. His colleague quickly wrapped the severed arm in a plastic bag and rushed both the injured man and the arm to the hospital for reattachment.
The next day, he visited his friend and was shocked to find him playing tennis.
“I can’t believe it!” he exclaimed. “Modern medicine is truly miraculous.”
A month passed, and the two friends returned to the workshop. Unfortunately, misfortune had not abandoned them, as the recently discharged friend had to return to the hospital, this time with a severed leg. Just like before, his friend wrapped the leg in a plastic bag and rushed him to the emergency room. The following day, he visited the hospital again and found his friend playing soccer.
Another month went by, and as the injured friend recovered, the two friends returned to the carpentry shop to work together again. This time, however, the careless one met with a terrible accident and had his head severed by the saw. As before, his friend wrapped the head in a plastic bag and took it along with the body to the hospital for reattachment.
The next day, he went to the hospital to visit his friend but could not find him anywhere. Encountering a doctor in the hallway, he asked:
“Excuse me, Doctor! I brought my friend here yesterday to have his head reattached. Where is he?”
The doctor thought for a moment and replied:
“I’m sorry! This time we are at a loss because some fool wrapped his head in a plastic bag, causing him to suffocate.”
