Posting and sharing video clips online is becoming easier with the new version of Google Video, following a series of adjustments made by the search giant.
Refusing to be overshadowed by a smaller company like YouTube.com in the online video space, Google has diligently researched and “pulled the trigger” for a series of improvements.
Until last night, to upload a video clip to Google’s site, users needed to install special software on their computers.
However, this step has now been eliminated along with all the inconveniences it caused.
Moreover, to enhance the service’s convenience, the waiting time for uploaded video clips to appear on the site has been significantly reduced.
Previously, users often had to wait up to 24 hours before seeing their uploaded video clips appear on the service. However, according to Peter Chane, the product director of Google Video, the new service will allow you to see your video clip shortly after you submit it to Google.
In addition to dissatisfaction with the dominance of a “little giant” like YouTube.com, another reason for Google’s pursuit of the online video market is the growing popularity of this technology. Since its launch a year ago, YouTube.com has exploded and become a cultural phenomenon, with over 40 million video clips viewed each day.
Clearly, this will be an extremely lucrative advertising market for Google, a company that earns most of its profits from advertising.
Just in April, YouTube attracted up to 12.5 million visitors in the U.S., surpassing all other existing video services. Google ranked fourth with 7.3 million visitors, trailing behind Microsoft’s MSN and News Corp’s MySpace.
