A group of Firefox supporters in the United States has launched two websites: Explorer Destroyer and Kill Bill’s Browser. Meanwhile, Google has announced a $1 reward for each site that successfully encourages customers to switch to an open-source browser.
The world’s leading search engine company has introduced a “referral” program, a feature of Google AdSense that allows users to install Firefox with a Google toolbar. Every time someone clicks to download the browser, the operator of the participating site will receive a $1 bonus from the company.
Explorer Destroyer has implemented several scripts on its website capable of identifying whether a visitor is using Internet Explorer. If so, it displays a message inviting users: “Use this tool to attract users from IE to Firefox. If you sign up for Google’s referral program, you will receive a bonus for every person you convert.”
“Firefox is one of the most important software applications in the world because it plays a significant role in building the next generation web. This browser is gaining popularity thanks to the remarkable efforts of the open-source software organization Mozilla, the SpreadFirefox.org community, and many other entities. However, if we want to prevent Microsoft from monopolizing the future of the Internet, Firefox needs to continue to grow stronger,” the creators of both websites stated. “The software giant is developing a new version of Internet Explorer, and it’s hard to predict what they will do with the Windows Vista operating system to force users to adopt their browser. Firefox has an advantage because Mozilla possesses an excellent tool. Google has provided the ‘carrot,’ and we just need to wield the stick against Internet Explorer.”
Meanwhile, Kill Bill’s Browser is a website filled with humorous anecdotes about Internet Explorer. The site features a design reminiscent of the action film “Kill Bill” and lists 13 reasons to use Firefox.
