With the advantage of being a leading technology company in the AI race, Google has long provided various editing solutions to its service users.
On Google Photos, the company offers many useful AI-integrated features, such as removing unwanted objects from images, adjusting portrait lighting, and enhancing details. These tools were originally designed for Pixel device users, but now customers with other devices who purchase a Google One subscription can also use them, regardless of the subscription tier purchased.
The “software giant” recently made a surprising move by announcing that all Android and iOS users will be able to experience the AI-powered image editing tools provided by the company completely free starting from May 15.
Google’s AI image editing tool will be available for free to users.
The only requirement is related to device specifications. Specifically, Android phones need to run version 8.0 or newer, while iOS requires a minimum of version 15.0 or later. All devices should have at least 4 GB of RAM. Additionally, all Google Photos users can utilize AI to edit photos for free without needing a Google One subscription.
Furthermore, free users on Android and iOS can use the limited Magic Editor – a generative AI tool capable of handling complex image editing tasks. Free users can make up to 10 edits and saves per month. To edit more, users must own a Pixel phone or have a premium Google One subscription (paid from 2 TB of storage monthly).
For some editing tools, users will need to download them first and select “Install.” It is recommended that the device be connected to Wi-Fi to avoid incurring mobile data charges and have at least 1 GB of free storage available on the device. However, some other AI features, such as Audio Eraser, Best Take, and Video Boost, remain exclusive to Pixel 8 series users.
