In a campaign to “hunt” for the best programmers, the online search service company is organizing a competition called Code Jam in Europe. Participants will need to conquer the most complex coding challenges to win a prize equivalent to $4,500 and become employees of the organizer.
In this competition, which uses C++, C#, and Java, contestants will compete online to qualify for the Top 500. After the second round, the number of participants will be reduced to just 200. The final 50 “masters” will head to Dublin, Ireland, for the finals.
Google hopes this competition will allow them to discover and attract top IT talents to work for their expanding research and development centers in Europe. “Code Jam is one of many ways we engage with young programming enthusiasts,” stated the Chief Technology Officer of Google UK. “This is truly an exciting way to recruit talent.”
Registration for Code Jam will last for the first three weeks of May. For more details, visit www.google.com/codejameurope
