A gardener in Canada has recently harvested a pumpkin measuring 2.5 meters and is awaiting recognition from the Guinness World Records as the longest pumpkin in the world.
Mr. Henry D’Angela, a gardener from Ontario, Canada, recently harvested a pumpkin measuring 2.56 meters in his garden. He has submitted an application to Guinness World Records for certification that this is the longest giant green pumpkin in the world.
“It’s really surprising. I don’t know why this pumpkin grew to such a massive length. I just happened to plant it in an area I had never planted before,” D’Angela shared with the media.
This man began growing green pumpkins a decade ago. The secret to achieving such an extraordinarily long pumpkin may lie in the quality of the soil and the methods of watering and fertilizing to maximize its growth.
The Thorold region in Ontario receives over 15 hours of daylight at the peak of summer. This provides optimal conditions for plants to absorb more sunlight for growth.

While waiting for a response from Guinness World Records, D’Angela is keeping the giant green pumpkin safe in his family garage.
The current record holder for the longest green pumpkin is John Giovanni Scozzafavain (who lives in Niagara Falls, USA). He earned this title in 2014 with a pumpkin measuring 2.52 meters.
