People with larger thighs are more prone to cardiovascular disease |
Researchers at Kang Ning Hospital indicated that if the thigh circumference exceeds the hip circumference by more than 5 cm, it is a sign of obesity and an increased risk of heart disease.
Another study showed that a thigh circumference greater than 52 cm could be considered excessive and should prompt a reassessment of fat levels.
Yin Chang-sheng, the deputy director of the hospital, recommends that women with larger thighs should walk or jog for 15-20 minutes each day. Another effective method for reducing thigh fat is to perform leg exercises. He also emphasized that exercising is more effective than dieting.
According to a survey conducted by the hospital involving 403 women aged 25 to 45, Taiwanese women expressed the most frustration about their hip measurements, followed by thighs and lower abdomen. About 80% reported that they had tried various methods but still could not achieve their desired lower body shape.
The survey also found that more than 50% of Taiwanese women spend an average of 6 years trying to improve the appearance of their lower body through dieting, applying creams, taking pills, and using heat wraps.
While most Taiwanese women aspire to have perfect body measurements, 67% of them do not exercise regularly, opting instead to limit their food intake.
Chang-sheng advises women not to focus too much on measurements but to consider overall body proportions, especially thigh circumference, as it can impact cardiovascular health.
