This pregnancy detection method is described as cost-effective, non-invasive, and provides accurate results in just a few minutes.
Salignostics – a medical startup from Israel – is about to launch the world’s first and only saliva-based pregnancy test kit. The SaliStick test is expected to hit the shelves in early 2022.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Salignostics has successfully conducted clinical trials with over 300 women in Israel, both pregnant and non-pregnant, and has completed thousands of analytical tests.
The company is currently in the process of obtaining the European Union (EU) CE mark certification.
Saliva contains over 5,000 proteins that reflect a person’s physiological blood state. The SaliStick can detect pregnancy hormone β-hCG in saliva, providing a high accuracy rate even in early pregnancy.
Dr. Guy Krief, co-founder and CEO of Salignostics, stated: “Saliva is key to rapid diagnosis for many medical reasons. By nature, it is the only non-invasive, easy, and hygienic medium for detecting hormones, viruses, and even diseases.”
Mr. Krief emphasized that Salignostics is offering a pregnancy testing product that completely replaces traditional blood and urine testing methods.
The global pregnancy test kit market is estimated to exceed $2 billion annually, with hundreds of millions of test kits sold each year.
Additionally, Salignostics has also launched a Covid-19 antibody test in saliva. This product has been granted the necessary approvals for use across Europe. To date, the company has provided hundreds of thousands of Covid-19 test kits to Europe and Africa.
The results are entirely based on saliva analysis using the same foundational technology. Since this technology is not specific to any biological marker, it can be replicated and used for various cases, such as detecting the SARS-CoV-2 virus and even diagnosing malaria.
