Honda Accord with ADAS: Automatic Speed Control and Cornering Capability – Just a Gentle Touch on the Steering Wheel Every Ten Seconds
Graham Avent, a spokesperson for Honda, stated: “The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) does not replace the driver – you cannot climb into the back seat to sleep! However, this system helps you maintain your lane and travel at a safe speed on the highway.
The system also makes long-distance driving less tiring and can prevent some accidents by minimizing driver errors. This is the most significant safety advancement since the introduction of airbags.”
This new car operates using two main components. The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is a radar sensor array located at the front of the vehicle that detects other vehicles. As a result, the car will automatically accelerate or decelerate. Additionally, the vehicle features a Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) – a camera positioned next to the rearview mirror that can identify empty lanes and control the steering.
The Honda Accord will be priced at $45,580 when it goes on sale next March, and all Honda vehicles will be equipped with the ADAS system by 2016.
