The Earth is experiencing its hottest period in at least 400 years and possibly the hottest in 2,000 years, according to a new report released in the United States. Human activities are primarily responsible for this situation.
The 155-page report from the National Academy of Sciences states that the average surface temperature in the Northern Hemisphere has increased by about 1 degree Fahrenheit during the 20th century. This is reflected in various natural phenomena, including subsurface cavities, the shrinking of glaciers, and numerous other indicators observed in nature.
Human activities are identified as the main cause of this situation. Scientists believe that CO2 emissions from factories and automobiles have contributed to the ongoing global warming.
