The Fehmarnbelt Tunnel, connecting Germany and Denmark, spans approximately 18 kilometers and is composed of 89 segments, with an expected completion date in 2029.
The Fehmarnbelt Tunnel (Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link) is being constructed by Femern A/S, Rambøll, Arup, and TEC. It is the longest and deepest immersed tube tunnel in the world, designed for both rail and road traffic. Upon completion, the tunnel will connect the town of Rødbyhavn in Denmark with the island of Fehmarn in Germany, providing the shortest route between Scandinavia and the rest of Europe. Passengers will only need 7 minutes by train or 10 minutes by car to traverse the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel, compared to 45 minutes by ferry. The infrastructure will include two two-lane highways separated by a service corridor and two railway tracks. |
