Hewlett-Packard (HP) has become the first manufacturer to launch a line of laptops that utilize 64-bit dual-core processing technology.
The Compaq nx6325 is also the first laptop to feature AMD’s Turion 64 X2 processor—the first 64-bit dual-core processor on the market, which was just released last month. This dual-core technology significantly enhances the operational speed of various applications. However, the benefits of 64-bit processors still seem quite limited. This will change with the launch of Windows Vista.
With the Compaq nx6325 product line, HP targets the small and medium business market, catering to both personal and business needs.
The Compaq nx6325 also has a version that utilizes a single-core AMD Sempron processor.
Like other new products from HP, the nx6325 is equipped with a biometric fingerprint scanner, an embedded TPM security chip, and a 15-inch BrightView or XGA display.
The nx6325 is set to officially hit the market by the end of this month. HP has not yet disclosed the price for this new product.
