The long antlers not only made the Impala antelope vulnerable to crocodile attacks but also inadvertently became an obstacle when trying to escape.
In the wild, the long antlers of male Impala not only enhance their majestic appearance in the eyes of females but also serve as weapons against rivals or predators. However, sometimes these antlers can “backfire” on their owner, even leading to fatal consequences.
The long antlers are a powerful weapon, but they can also hinder the Impala antelope.
For instance, in the video below, the excessive length of the antlers caused an Impala to be captured by a crocodile. Just when it seemed there was a chance to escape, the antlers once again became an obstacle, preventing it from fleeing.
