The Center for the Application and Transfer of Scientific and Technological Advances, under the Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Phuc, has successfully conducted research on the scientific project titled “Experimenting with the Use of Urozhai Photoselective Film for Building Seedling Nurseries and Growing Plants from Tissue Culture“. The project has been successfully applied to three types of plants: hybrid Eucalyptus U6, Aloe Vera, and hybrid Acacia.
The Urozhai photoselective film serves to balance temperature, reduce greenhouse effects, block ultraviolet rays, and convert ultraviolet light into red light, which enhances the photosynthetic stimulation for plants, leading to better growth.
The center has constructed a 70 m² Urozhai nursery, conducting four planting cycles each year with approximately 50,000 seedlings of various types. After four experimental cycles, the percentage of seedlings meeting the requirements for transplantation has exceeded 85%, an increase of 10%. The height of the plants after the experiment has increased by 302%, reaching 0.5 times higher, while the weight of the plants has increased by 43.9%, also reaching 0.3 times higher. The vegetative growth cycle of the plants has reduced by 12.5 days, and the crop yield has increased by 10-15% compared to the control group.
Notably, the Urozhai film can be used for 5-6 consecutive years, with an investment cost of 15-20 million VND for 100 m². The successful application of Urozhai film in plant propagation and growing plants from tissue culture has effectively replaced older covering materials such as nylon and low-efficiency polyethylene. This marks the first successful experiment in Vinh Phuc province as well as nationwide, aimed at increasing crop productivity.
