The Minister of Fisheries has recently decided to invest 64.54 billion VND to establish the Southern Seafood Research Institute, which includes 27 billion VND allocated for construction, 26.7 billion VND for equipment, and the remainder for other basic construction funds.
The project will be built on an area of 10,000 m² in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, with the Seafood Research Institute as the main investor.
The objective of this project is to establish a scientific research facility focusing on seafood technology for the southern marine area (from Da Nang to Kien Giang, covering coastal regions, tidal zones, and river mouths) under the Seafood Research Institute. This will directly address the seafood research needs across the entire southern marine region.
With the investment amount, the research institute will be equipped with modern machinery and equipment to support scientific research laboratories and high-tech laboratories; machinery for measurement and remote sensing information exploration; and equipment for displaying specimens and supporting educational training… The project is set to be implemented over four years, from 2005 to 2008.
