The external hard drive product branded as Desktop Hard Drive XL is priced at $900 each and is compatible with both Mac and PC systems. This device is essentially a combination of 4 modules, each with a capacity of 250 GB.
The new drive from Iomage measures 16 x 20 x 31 cm and connects to computers via FireWire 800, FireWire 400, or USB 2.0 ports. The product supports Serial ATA standards, operates at a speed of 7,200 revolutions per minute (rpm), and features an 8 MB cache.
The Desktop Hard Drive XL is designed for users with significant storage needs for audio, video, and photo content. Specifically, it can store up to 18,500 hours of music, 4,000,000 photos, or 1,500 hours of video.
“The demand for video storage and editing has increasingly surpassed the capacity limits of conventional drives, especially as the market shifts towards high-resolution images and films,” explained Lee Williams, Vice President of Iomage. “Therefore, we are launching this XL Series to overcome the limitations of single drives, thereby enhancing usability.”
