A U.S. software company, IxQuick, has recently introduced a free information search engine that is claimed to be highly secure due to its anonymous nature. It automatically deletes all stored information such as personal data, search queries, and user IP addresses.
IxQuick is an information search engine that integrates results from various search networks, including Yahoo, Altavista, MSN, Netscape, and Wikipedia. The design team behind IxQuick asserts that their product is the safest information retrieval system available, as it disables all mechanisms that other search engines typically use to save user data, including IP addresses and search queries entered by users.
Currently popular search engines are designed to retain all interactions users have with them, including keywords, links, access times, and user IP addresses. Companies that operate information search engines have profited significantly from storing such data. However, this also creates opportunities for hackers to exploit these vulnerabilities to gather information about their targets, as exemplified by Google. Therefore, IxQuick may be the search engine that users need.
In addition to disabling remote data storage, IxQuick automatically deletes all temporary stored information from its own memory and leaves no traces on the accessing computer immediately after the user exits the IxQuick interface.
Alex van Eesteren, a spokesperson for IxQuick, stated: “All current search engines use stored user information for commercial purposes, which can be viewed as an abuse of personal data for profit, and there is currently no law regulating this. We decided to use our technology to protect users by deleting all personal access data, and even our computers do not retain any personal data.”
The Ixquick.com search engine is currently compatible with approximately 16 languages including Danish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Finnish, Norwegian, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. Despite being newly launched, it has already ranked among the top 10 most popular search engines in the world.
