According to news from Acer Taiwan, in 2006, alongside its ambitious plans in the PC market, the company will further expand its offerings in other product categories such as PDAs and LCD TVs. The head of Acer, Mr. JT Wang, mentioned that he anticipates a growth rate of over 100% in both the PDA and LCD TV segments.
Mr. Wang stated that Acer’s goal for 2005 was to sell 700,000 PDAs, which represents a sixfold increase compared to the previous year. This sales figure is expected to continue to grow by 114% in 2006. Additionally, Acer aims to rise from its current third position to second in global PDA supply. Currently, Acer has three PDA lines: n20, n30, and n50, all produced by Lite-On Technology.
According to a recent IDC study, in the third quarter of 2005, 1.68 million PDAs were sold worldwide, and Acer is among the fastest-growing manufacturers in this sector. Currently, Acer ranks third, with 180,000 PDAs sold in the quarter, marking an impressive 421% increase.
For the LCD TV market, Acer plans to launch 1 million units by 2007, a significant increase compared to 150,000 units this year.
