High-Speed Train at 366 km/h |
Experts involved in the design of this train have reported that as of March 1st, the high-speed train has operated for 30,000 kilometers. In August 2005, during trials at the factory, the train reached speeds of up to 398 km/h.
However, experts believe that this is not the highest speed the train can achieve. They are hopeful that before the train enters service, new technologies will allow it to reach a maximum speed of 405 km/h.
Due to its high speed and the need to pull 8 carriages, the design process incorporated a dual pneumatic braking system, enabling the train to begin deceleration from a distance of approximately 4,000 meters.
The Japanese Ministry of Transportation plans for this high-speed train to be put into service for the first time on the railway line connecting Tokyo and Aomori City on Honshu Island in 2011.
