The Komodo Dragon (scientific name: Varanus komodoensis) is a top predator. They can eat any prey that exists within their habitat. However, is the ambition to prey on a bat perched high in the trees beyond their capability?
Komodo Dragon climbing a tree to catch a short-nosed fruit bat in Indonesia.
The Komodo Dragon below climbed up a branch to catch its prey. The target was a large bat (Megabat) of the species short-nosed fruit bat (scientific name: Cynopterus titthaecheilus). This species is endemic to Indonesia.
Upon noticing that its predator was trying to climb to capture it, the bat moved to a higher branch to evade danger. As a result, the Komodo Dragon was unable to achieve its goal.
