A king cobra (scientific name: Ophiophagus hannah) was wandering in search of prey when it unexpectedly spotted another predator gliding past. With its speed, the king cobra had no trouble catching up to this target.
A mouse snake confronts the king cobra; what will be the outcome?
It turns out that the creature within the king cobra’s sights was a species of snake known as the striped rat snake (scientific name: Elaphe taeniura). This is a harmless species of snake (even beneficial to farmers) as it is non-venomous and helps control the rodent population.
Therefore, when faced with the king cobra, which is superior in size, strength, venom, and speed, the rat snake stood no chance of victory. It was quickly injected with venom by the king cobra and swallowed whole.
