Microsoft has recently updated the new version of Windows Media Player 11, enabling instant search capabilities. For example, users can find songs simply by typing the first letters of an artist’s name.
In the past, Windows Media Player was considered unattractive and cumbersome by both critics and customers. However, the new version of this software has received much praise.
For several years now, music fans everywhere have started to abandon CDs or use online services to download music, which means that music libraries on PCs have rapidly increased in size.
With the new version of Windows Media Player, Microsoft has aimed to help users manage their vast music collections more effectively.
Windows will offer music search options by browsing through albums, rather than having to search through a list of songs.
Quick Search
A notable feature of the new Windows Media Player 11 is its instant search capability, which allows users to find songs simply by typing the first letters of an artist’s name.
For instance, if a user wants to search for songs by Jessica Simpson, they simply type the letter “J”, and Windows Media Player will display a list of songs starting with the letter “J”.
“We have developed a technology that allows for rapid searching, even for very large content collections,” said Jeff Harris, product director of Windows Media Player.
Service Integration
Microsoft has closely integrated Windows Media Player 11 with MTV’s online music service, Urge. Part of this integration includes technology that provides a new music feed.
Similar to the RSS technology that delivers news feeds, the new music feed technology allows Urge customers to log in and receive new music content according to their preferred settings registered with Urge.
This content can also be synchronized with portable music devices and updated daily. Each time users connect these mobile devices to their computers, the new playlists will be updated.
According to Harris, “Once you are subscribed, new information in the music field will automatically sync with your device. So every day you can return and get the latest information and content for your machine.”
