Vietnam is rich in renewable energy resources; however, it remains largely untapped, utilizing only 11% of its natural energy – including 12% from hydropower, 30% from solar energy, and 15% from biomass…
Dr. Hermann Scheer, Chairman of the International Renewable Energy Committee, has revealed the potential for renewable energy in Vietnam based on a survey conducted by the World Bank.
According to this report, Vietnam is a country abundant in renewable energy resources, yet it is almost “neglected.”
Meanwhile, the five-year plan of the Vietnam Electricity Corporation includes the construction of a series of coal-fired power plants that risk depleting fossil energy sources, while also contributing to the already heavy pollution in the northern region from coal dust.
Dr. Hermann has held discussions with the Vietnamese government and scientific community to help Vietnam find a new direction to address the increasingly urgent energy issues, through projects utilizing renewable energy sources, primarily from wind and water.
