In response to the campaign for environmental sanitation to combat the A/H5N1 influenza virus, Ha Tay province has mobilized the community, including the Farmers’ Association, to participate in activities aimed at cleaning the environment and disinfecting poultry farms to limit the virus’s survival and transmission to humans.
Specific measures outlined by the province include daily community awareness campaigns to clean livestock areas, slaughtering poultry, collecting, disposing of, burying, or burning waste, and thoroughly cleaning poultry farming tools and livestock enclosures with a 2-5% Chloramin B solution or a 10-20% lime solution.
Management of duck herds is crucial; it is recommended not to release them into fields or ponds where they are raised. Areas that can be treated should be quarantined and treated with powdered lime.
Additionally, there will be increased supervision of the transportation, slaughter, and usage of poultry to prevent outbreaks that may occur at any time. Households with deceased poultry are urged to promptly notify veterinary authorities and to dispose of the animals by burning or deep burial, while also actively disinfecting their livestock areas.
Ha Tay province will implement the environmental sanitation campaign for disease prevention across 14 districts and towns over a period of one month (from March 7 to April 7) to enhance public awareness about disease prevention.
Following Ha Tay, other provinces such as Quang Nam (March 14) and Tien Giang (March 21) will also conduct similar environmental cleanup campaigns throughout March.
