Lions are perfect predators, combining strength and speed, especially in the case of male lions. Their hunting typically doesn’t take much time and is very powerful. A lion’s instinct when hunting alone is to kill its prey by biting the neck to break it or damage the circulatory system.
Fortunately, lions rarely attack humans. They usually only attack when people encroach on their territory.
Some zoologists have offered advice on how to respond and protect oneself when encountering a lion in the wild: Always maintain eye contact and do not break it. Back away slowly, never turn your back on the lion, and do not run. Lions typically observe their prey before launching an attack. In such cases, waving your arms can create a larger appearance, and making loud noises can distract the predator.
