To own the rare Macallan Valerio Adami bottle, a mysterious tycoon in Asia paid a record price of £848,750 (approximately $1.1 million or around 25 billion VND).
The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 is considered the “highlight” of the auction held by Bonhams in Scotland on October 3rd. The winning bidder participated via telephone and is reported to be from the Far East.

Martin Green, a whisky expert, stated that bottles of this kind are always sought after by collectors worldwide and may never be opened. He compared the Macallan 60 to a Rolls-Royce in the whisky world.
The “The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926” is dubbed the “Rolls Royce of whisky,” and it is one of only 24 whisky bottles produced in 1986 at Macallan, one of the most renowned whisky distilleries in the world.
This distillery later hired Adami and Peter Blake, two artists who designed the album cover for “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” by The Beatles, to create labels for these 24 bottles. Each artist was responsible for designing the label for 12 bottles.
Currently, it is unclear how many bottles of “The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926” still exist in the world.

However, according to the Daily Mail, one bottle from the set of 12 was broken during the earthquake in Japan in 2011. Additionally, at least one bottle has been opened and consumed. Many experts have referred to this bottle as the “Holy Grail” due to its rarity, age, and unique label.
It is known that the previous record for the most expensive bottle was £814,081, recorded during an auction in Hong Kong last May.
