The results showed that the dosage of testosterone (male hormone) administered to postmenopausal women ranged from 1.25mg to 2.5mg.
Following this treatment, the sexual function of postmenopausal women significantly improved with the addition of testosterone. Along with increased bone density, stronger muscles, and reduced fat, patients also experienced better psychological well-being.
However, after using testosterone for more than six months, some side effects may appear in these women, such as changes in voice, increased hair and body hair growth, and even the development of acne on the face.
When acne appears or voice changes occur, women should consider reducing their testosterone dosage.
As mentioned above, elevated testosterone levels enhance sexual function in women, but at the same time, testosterone can lower the levels of good cholesterol in the blood.
