An animal expert was attacked by a large crocodile in front of a large audience.
The incident occurred at Crocodile Creek Farm located in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
The female crocodile turned to attack Clus, prompting him to stand up.
At the time, Sean Le Clus, an experienced crocodile farmer, was performing a risky demonstration with two large Nile crocodiles.
The two crocodiles involved in the demonstration included one male and one female. The male crocodile measured over 4.8 meters in length and weighed 660 kilograms. Clus had cared for it for more than 30 years.
During the performance, the expert continuously engaged in risky playful maneuvers with the two reptiles. He even sat on the back of the male crocodile.
At that moment, the female crocodile beside him turned to attack Clus, causing him to stand up. This sudden movement seemed to agitate the male crocodile, which unexpectedly turned its head and bit down hard on Clus’s arm and thigh. He screamed in pain and fell to the ground. Fortunately, the animal then released its grip on Clus. The horrifying incident left the audience shocked and terrified.
A representative from the farm reported that Clus suffered two large lacerations but was treated and stitched up by medical staff. The injuries were not serious, and Clus was able to return to work shortly afterward.
Nile crocodiles are the largest crocodiles in Africa and are also among the largest crocodiles in the world. Adult Nile crocodiles can range in length from 5 to 5.5 meters, with some individuals reaching up to 7 meters. Their weight can vary from 225 kilograms to as much as 700 kilograms, depending on their environment.
Nile crocodiles are capable of consuming fish, amphibians, reptiles, other crocodiles, birds, or virtually any mammal (including lions, leopards, and buffalo), except for adult elephants and hippos.
Moreover, Nile crocodiles are known to be man-eaters and are responsible for the highest number of human fatalities among crocodile species worldwide.
