According to a recent study, more than half of current Internet users are not enthusiastic about participating in online activities; they simply read the information that has already been posted for them.
Although 92% of European websites surveyed by JupiterResearch (USA) encourage visitors to engage in some kind of program, over 53% of Internet users in this continent still browse the web in a “quiet” and passive manner.
Only 23% of those connected to the Internet in the UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Spain, and Italy respond to online polls or competitions, while around 24% update blogs, post on websites, forums, etc.
The findings from JupiterResearch indicate that the surge in user-generated content currently originates from a small community—primarily young males. This situation creates an asymmetrical impact on the opinions of the general population.
