If a child has a scalp condition, finely grind areca nuts and dry them in the shade, then mix with sesame oil for application. Areca nuts are also used to treat various other ailments in children.

Use 30 g of areca nut and 30 g of pumpkin seeds, decoct and drink. Alternatively, use 60 g of areca nut and 500 g of hawthorn. The evening before, gradually give the child fresh hawthorn (or 200 g of dried hawthorn). That night, have them fast or eat lightly. The next morning, drink 30 ml of the areca nut decoction. After drinking, rest and use a toilet or basin with warm water to expel all tapeworm segments.
Hookworm Treatment: Mix 20 g of areca nut with 30 g of white silk root bark, decoct strongly, and add sugar to make 60 ml. Take it before bed on an empty stomach for two consecutive days.
Roundworms and Pinworms: Use 21 roasted areca nuts, finely ground. Divide into 2-3 doses throughout the day, taken with the decoction of areca nut peel. Consume on an empty stomach.
According to traditional Eastern medicine, for deworming, raw areca nuts should be used, while cooked nuts are recommended for alleviating digestive obstruction.
Additionally, areca nuts are used to treat the following conditions:
Flagellate Infection: Use 100 g of areca nut sliced thinly or crushed, soak in 500 ml of water for over 12 hours. Boil down to 200 ml and divide into three doses to be taken on an empty stomach in the morning.
Acute Cholecystitis, Simple Type: Use 10 g of areca nut, 10 g of radish seeds, and 10 g of dried tangerine peel. Powder the areca nut, chop the tangerine peel, combine with water, and boil briefly. Take twice daily after meals, adding a bit of sugar for taste.
Treatment for Indigestion, Bloating, and Acid Reflux: Use 200 g of betel nut, 10 g of cloves, 10 g of cardamom, 20 g of dried tangerine peel, 10 g of grains of paradise, and 100 g of salt. Prepare a liquid extract. Take small pieces of areca nut, 5-10 g after dinner with the decoction.
Types of Areca Nut Porridge
Pork Heart Areca Nut Porridge: Use half an areca nut, 300 g of pork heart, and 100 g of glutinous rice. Grind the areca nut and strain to obtain 300 ml of water, boil it, then add the rice to cook the porridge, and finally mix in the finely chopped pork heart. This porridge is used to treat undernourished children. Serve three times a week for two weeks.
Areca Nut Carrot Porridge: Use one areca nut, 50 g of carrot, both ground into a paste, and 150 g of glutinous rice, with appropriate seasoning. Cook the porridge with 300 ml of water until soft, then add the areca nut and carrot, continue cooking until done. Serve three times a day for three consecutive days to treat children with green stools.
Areca Nut Ginger Porridge: Use 15 g of areca nut to extract juice, 12 g of fresh ginger to extract juice, 100 g of ground rice, and 20 g of honey. Cook the porridge until soft, add all ingredients, bring to a boil again, and serve once daily to alleviate digestive congestion, disinfect the digestive tract, and relieve cough.
