After giving birth, women often feel weak and fatigued… According to folk wisdom, there are many simple, effective remedies that have no side effects to help alleviate this condition.
Medicinal Remedies for Rapid Recovery
In mountainous regions, there are nourishing plants such as fat root, wild starfruit, and earth ginger.
Fat Root:
Harvested year-round, best in autumn, it should be washed thoroughly, cut off the roots, and the small roots, then sliced thinly, soaked in rice washing water for 24 hours, rinsed multiple times, and then dried or dehydrated.
After that, soak the roots in ginger water with a ratio of 50g fresh ginger to 100ml water, heat for 10-15 minutes, remove, dry in the sun, then soak in ginger water again until the soaking water is gone.
Allow to cool, dry in the sun or dehydrate until fully dry, then roast until golden. Use 10-20g daily as a decoction (experience from the Muong ethnic group).
Wild Starfruit Stems and Branches:
Harvested year-round, strip off the leaves, wash thoroughly (for larger stems and branches, only the bark is used, while smaller branches can be used whole), slice thinly, dry, and roast until golden. When using, take 20-40g of the herb, crush it, and steep it in boiling water, drinking it daily instead of tea for several weeks.
The remedy has a light, pleasant aroma (experience from the Tay and Dao ethnic groups).
Earth Ginger:
Dig up, remove the bracts and flower envelopes, wash thoroughly, slice thinly, dry, roast briefly, then soak in alcohol at a ratio of 1/5 for a month or longer for the best results. The alcohol will have a deep red color, fragrant, with a slightly bitter and astringent taste.
Drink twice a day, each time a small cup before meals. Add sugar for better taste.
Medicinal Remedies to Increase Milk Production
Used as single ingredients, according to ancient texts (Nam Dược Thần Hiệu and Bách Gia Trân Tàng):

– Combined usage, thinly sliced pine nuts (10-20g), pig trotter (1 piece) or pig’s foot (2-5 pieces), glutinous rice (30-50g).
Chop the pig trotter or foot into small pieces, boil until tender, then add pine nuts and glutinous rice. Continue cooking for one hour until soft, add seasoning, cool, and eat within the day. Use for 3 days; if necessary, extend for a few more days.
