From the perspective of average height, men are always taller than women. The height of a person is primarily determined by the length of the lower limb bones. The reason why women are shorter and men are taller is fundamentally due to the different development of lower limb bones in males and females.
The human growth process follows certain规律 and does not remain the same every year. For instance, if a person is born at a height of 50 cm, by the age of 5, they will be approximately double that height, around 100 cm. From ages 6 to 7, a person typically grows an additional 8-10 cm each year. This trend continues until just before puberty, when the growth rate begins to slow down, with an increase of no more than 3-4 cm per year. Upon entering puberty, the growth rate accelerates again, with an increase of 5-7 cm per year. By the age of 17 or 18, this phase ends and transitions into the post-pubertal phase, where height increases mainly due to the growth of the spine. The spine grows slowly and over a long period, which is why overall height increases at a slower rate.
The growth process in males occurs later than in females, but the growth rate surpasses that of females and ends much later. Typically, females stop growing by the ages of 19-23, while males continue to grow until they are 23-26 years old, which is why women are often slightly shorter than men.
