According to a reporter in Mexico, scientist Arturo Solis Herrera has recently developed a type of battery that can power a flashlight for 100 years using water and melanin.

Herrera, an eye specialist and currently the Director of the Research and Development Institute at the Mexican Center for Photosynthesis Research, stated that during his research on molecules found in human skin, hair, and the retinal membrane of the eye, he discovered that melanin has the ability to break down water molecules, separating oxygen and hydrogen. This process generates electrical energy, and notably, this same molecule can recombine oxygen and hydrogen to create water, thereby producing a new source of electrical energy.
Herrera has named his invention Bat – Gen, a battery capable of generating unlimited electricity, self-recharging, and functioning as a generator.
He emphasized that the four-year research process led him to discover a continuous cycle that separates water molecules and generates electrical energy without encountering any obstacles, as melanin naturally absorbs light from the environment, including electromagnetic radiation around it.
