Long gone are the days when desktop computer users were unfamiliar with TV cards thanks to products from TiVo, Pinnacle, and others. However, TV cards for laptops are still quite rare. To fill this gap, Micronas has launched the MicMamba2D-XC card.
Similar to the TiVo® Series2™ DT DVR, the MicMamba 2D-XC features a dual-tuner, allowing users to watch and record two different programs simultaneously. The biggest difference between these two products is that the MicMamba 2D-XC is not a “TV box” but rather a compact card designed for the latest laptops using PCI-Express.
Two other important features of the MicMamba 2D-XC are its ability to combine signals from both tuners to enhance image quality while on the move or in areas with weak signals, and its energy-saving capabilities.
The MicMamba 2D-XC utilizes the DRX 3976D COFDM demodulator (which converts television signals into digital signals) and Micronas’s nGene chip with Maximum Ratio Combining technology, providing high compatibility and the ability to decode all DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial) standards.
The MicMamba 2D-XC is now available on the market; however, pricing information for this product has yet to be listed on various information sites.
