According to a recent announcement from Microsoft over the weekend, the company is revising part of the way Internet Explorer (IE) handles external threats.
Web developers and Microsoft partners have been informed that the world’s largest software company is modifying how Internet Explorer processes web applications, specifically concerning ActiveX controls and Java applets.
With these changes, web developers will need to make slight adjustments to their websites, or users may have to click a few more times to access certain content, such as viewing a Flash advertisement.
As part of Microsoft’s plan, the new IE 7.0 version (the current version is 6.0) will be integrated with operating systems including Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and the upcoming Windows Vista. The release of IE 7.0 is expected early next year.
